About Me
Lauren Pitts, RN, certified end of life doula
I am a nurse of close to 20 years who has worked in many arenas of healthcare. My world was dramatically changed when my father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and passed shortly after. I had the extreme honor to care for him at home and provide him with a peaceful and comfortable passing. After my father's death I became passionate about ensuring a meaningful and dignified end of life experience for patients and their loved ones.
People who’ve been diagnosed with a terminal illness hire me to remove the stress and organize critical next steps in their end of life journey. As a compassionate registered nurse and end of life doula , I empower clients and families through education, unwavering support and gentle guidance.

Legacy Projects
It has been said that everyone dies two deaths, once when your body leaves this earth, and again when someone speaks of you for the last time. A legacy project can be anything you want it to be, and I can help keep the memories alive. I have worked with clients making letters for their children, books, poems and videos. What type of legacy do you want to leave behind for those you are leaving behind?

Advocacy
Advocacy ensures that the client receives appropriate and compassionate care that is in line with their values or wishes concerning their treatment and end of life goals. I help collaborate with healthcare team members while providing emotional support, ensuring physical comfort along with helping clients and families make informed decisions.

An end of life navigator works with clients and families to ensure end of life wishes are communicated and honored according to the clients expressed desires. We work to assist with advanced care planning, legacy work, family and grief support, quality of life therapies, collaboration with healthcare team members, advocacy, spiritual care and so much more. ​

Why is it important to start planning for end of life?

It's never too early to start planning, it's recommended to start planning as early as possible, especially if you are in good health. Ensuring your wishes are known, easing the burden on loved ones, gaining peace of mind, being able to have open and honest conversations, allowing time for reflection, gaining spiritual support and grief support are all benefits of planning early.

Do you take insurance?

Unfortunately, insurance plans severely limit the time and care a healthcare professional can provide. Therefore, we do not participate with any healthcare insurance plans.

I live in the Athens, Ga. area but consultations and visits are fluid and flexible. I have previously met clients in their homes, coffee shops, parks, hospitals. Along with offering tele-visits. Meeting you where you are and are comfortable is my priority.
